In addition to Louise O'Higgins, other experienced, independent practitioners work in the YCAFPS Acomb premises. Each practitioner runs their own private practice and is fully responsible for their own work, clients, and professional services.
While we may collaborate or refer clients when appropriate, if you choose to work with one of the practitioners listed here, you will be referred to and then engage directly with them to manage all further enquiries, bookings, and agreements.
This arrangement allows YCAFPS to offer a broader range of therapeutic approaches while maintaining the autonomy and confidentiality that are central to good clinical practice.
I’ve worked in the NHS with TEWV (Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust) since 2018 as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). In this role I’ve supported many children, young people and adults experiencing a range of anxiety disorders and depression using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m also involved in research developing and evaluating new CBT-based interventions. For the past five years I’ve worked on a research study called COMBAT, which focuses on testing and improving CBT approaches for depression. While most of my time is spent working clinically with people, I also have a researcher role.
